How long have you been opening your home to adults with developmental disabilities or living with someone with a developmental disability?

Since 2012, so about 10 years.

What advice do you wish you received when you first started providing services?

It’s really satisfying to help others who need help. It’s amazing how you don’t realize it.

What is the hardest part about the work you do?

It’s a huge responsibility, but it’s not necessarily hard, just the way of life.

What is the best part about the work you do?

It’s just really satisfying to see the progress that I can make a difference in someone’s life.

What is a dream that you have for yourself?

The fella that I have currently goes to college. So that would be amazing for me to actually help him be able to work and be independent.

What is the dream you have for the person(s) you are supporting?

Just for him to be independent because he is capable, but he’s going to need some help.

Who do you consider a hero and why?

My parents just because you don’t realize how hard things really are and I’ve now seen what they’ve had to go through. It’s just amazing.
