I started with HLADD in May of 2020. Tasha moved in September of 2020.
The advice I wished I’d received when I first started would have to be it’s ok to feel frustrated and it’s ok to take breaks. You can’t take care of anyone if you don’t take care of yourself so don’t feel bad.
I think the hardest part is just the extra responsibilities that come with caring for her along with my sons. Dishes, laundry, doctors appointments, etc. I’m happy to take this on but it is probably the hardest part.
The best part is knowing she’s safe, healthy and loved and I’m providing that for her.
A dream I have for myself would be to make enough money to buy a house in a better school district for my kids.
A dream I have for Tasha would be for her to be happy and healthy and maybe find a job she likes and works best for her.
I consider Eleanor Roosevelt to be one of my hero’s. She was so kind and generous. She believed in equality and human rights. She stepped out of the mold of how women were supposed to behave at that time to fight for others. She was outspoken, courageous and brilliant.
