How long have you been opening your home to adults with developmental disabilities or living with someone with a developmental disability?

2 years.

What advice do you wish you received when you first started providing services?

That it would be like having a grown child living in the house with you again.

What is the hardest part about the work you do?

Assuring my resident that one day he will be reunited with his mom.

What is the best part about the work you do?

Testing my culinary skills for a picky eater. But that may also be the hardest part as well.

What is a dream that you have for yourself?

My dream is to travel the world when I retire very soon.

What is the dream you have for the person(s) you are supporting?

I hope he gets to see places outside his comfort zone and learn to
appreciate the beauty of things around him.

Who do you consider a hero and why?

That first person is my late father Wilbur Kelly Jr. In an attempt to keep me out of trouble as a teenager, he gave me jobs to do around the house to keep me busy. Not knowing he was teaching me valuable skills and adult responsibilities.
