April 10, 2026

LADD, a leading nonprofit advocating for people with disabilities, announces it is entering into an agreement to unify The Over-The-Rhine International Film festival (OTRIFF) and Cindependent International Film Festival (CIFF) as one inclusive independent film festival, creating the opportunity to make Cincinnati a global, top-tier destination for film.

Combining the OTRIFF and CIFF brings together two regional industry leaders in a position to accelerate the mission of inclusivity and expand the cultural footprint of filmmaking in the future by providing unmatched opportunities for exposure, networking and international recognition.

Jack Geiger, who served as managing director of the ReelAbilities Film Festival in 2018 during the festival’s pivotal transition from ReelAbilities to Over-the-Rhine Film Festival says “The collaboration of OTRIFF and CIFF is timely and important.” Combining filmmaking, storytelling and inclusion on screen builds community and fosters greater awareness of lived experiences. We can all benefit from the opportunity to realize our shared humanity and foster common bonds.”

“We are thrilled to begin this next phase of evolution shares LADD’s CEO, Susan Brownknight. The blending of the OTR Film Festival and Cindependent Film Festival provides us a unique opportunity to scale our mission of inclusivity while our shared values and complimentary strengths ensure a seamless transition and a future of endless opportunity and continued growth.”

The Cindependent Film Festival founder and Executive Director, Allyson West will serve as the Executive Director role of the newly unified film festival known as the Cindependent Film Festival presented with LADD. “I am thrilled to be part of this expansion and have this opportunity” says West. “This new structure enables us to unify two respected film platforms into one stronger, sustainable and globally significant festival.

The inaugural Cindependent Film Festival presented by LADD will debut on September 17 through September 19, 2026.
